Sunday, Christine and I hiked to the site of Lulu City in Rocky Mountain National Park.
At its peak, Lulu City had a population of about 500 people, including one “Squeaky Bob” who would occasionally open fire in a local tavern, but he really never meant any harm.
Unfortunately, the heyday only lasted for about a year and a half. After prospectors found out that there was not quite as much silver in the hills as they had hoped, it was time to move further west.
Five years after Lulu City was established, there was nobody left.
Folks left in such a hurry that in the abandoned cabins, there were still clothes in the closets and dishes on the tables.
Beautiful little ghost town, Lulu City is.
